Soft Weavings, Ancestral Threads — The Story of Senin
Heritage Textiles, Reimagined for Modern Life
At Ce Fain!, our passion is rooted in design that feels both authentic and fresh. That’s exactly why Senin, founded by the multi-talented Ruxandra Căpusan, is one of the featured labels at our October 17 launch event. It’s the kind of project that’s unmistakably Romanian in spirit and beautifully contemporary in expression.
Senin was born in Cluj-Napoca in early 2023, but it really started long before that. Ruxandra’s background spans visual arts, social entrepreneurship, and project management, but the core thread across her work is clear: meaningful storytelling through material. With Senin, she collects vintage Romanian textiles—some woven over 50 years ago—and gives them a second life in the form of new, functional garments and accessories.
She started small. The first pieces came from a modest investment and a lot of fieldwork, sourcing old linens, wool, and woven cloths from villages, fairs, and personal collections. Over time, that archive grew to hundreds of fabrics—each with its own story, each reworked into something new.
What makes Senin different is its respect for the material. Ruxandra doesn’t force these fabrics into trendy silhouettes or overworked statements. She listens. Often, the design is dictated by the cut, the fray, the way the fabric has aged. What results are coats, wraps, and hoodies that carry both memory and function.
Production is intentionally small. Most pieces are created in collaboration with four different workshops in Cluj-Napoca, Florești, and Turda. Only about 15 to 20 pieces are made each month, keeping the pace slow and the attention focused. Leftover scraps are reused or reimagined into smaller objects. Waste is kept to a minimum.
Ruxandra refers to her brand as a "village without walls." It’s an ecosystem where fabrics, memories, and makers all have space to evolve. She’s building something bigger than a clothing line—a cultural continuity that reactivates traditional knowledge and gives it contemporary relevance.
Senin has also attracted a growing community of followers and collaborators who value transparency and substance. Many of her fabrics are sourced through relationships with local families who are excited to see their heritage pieces used in new ways. There’s a sense of collective ownership and pride that travels with each finished piece.
And while Senin is firmly rooted in Romania, it has already found resonance abroad. Pieces have made their way to homes in Europe, North America, and Asia. The brand has been featured in local design shops and cultural markets, steadily building a name for its integrity and style.
More than a brand, Senin feels like a living archive. Its purpose isn’t just to dress people—it’s to create connection between generations, and to preserve a form of cultural craftsmanship that might otherwise fade. Each textile has its own rhythm and character. Senin pieces carry that forward, shaped by Ruxandra’s instinct and care.
There’s a clear philosophy behind the work: stay close to the materials, be honest in the process, and leave space for the wearer to feel something. At our October 17 launch, Senin will present a capsule of pieces that show this thinking in motion—rich in texture, subtle in color, and confident in silhouette. They feel like garments with depth, the kind that don’t demand attention but hold it anyway.
Senin is quiet design with a strong center. We’re proud to bring it to the Ce Fain! community.
