Form & Flight

Form & Flight

There are two moments in Romanian history that the rest of the world still hasn't fully processed.
The first: a sculptor from Hobița who went to Paris and stripped everything away, ornament, narrative, sentiment, until what remained was pure. Constantin Brâncuși didn't simplify. He distilled. The work that came out the other side looked inevitable, which is the hardest thing any made object can achieve.
The second: a sixteen-year-old gymnast in Montreal who received a score the scoreboard wasn't built to display. Nadia Comăneci didn't perform. She resolved. Every element of her routine had been worked until difficulty became grace, until the seam between effort and ease disappeared entirely.
Form & Flight is a curatorial program built around what these two figures share: the conviction that the most powerful things are those that have been reduced to their essence and then executed without apology.
Ce Fain! presents a capsule of Romanian design chosen through this lens. The work doesn't need to reference Brâncuși or Nadia directly. It needs only to carry the same quality, of having arrived somewhere true.
