Maria Costake — Botanical Art, Transformed into Silk
Maria Costake is a Romanian botanical artist and the founder of her eponymous silk scarf brand, where traditional botanical art is transformed into contemporary wearable pieces.
Her work begins on paper. Inspired by the beauty and diversity of the natural world, Maria creates detailed botanical paintings and drawings using traditional techniques such as watercolor and colored pencil. Each flower is carefully observed and rendered by hand, preserving the delicate details, subtle imperfections and character of the original artwork.
The paintings are then digitized and reimagined as textile compositions, allowing the original artwork to take on a new life on silk. Rather than designing patterns directly on a computer, Maria’s creative process always begins with art, making each scarf an extension of her botanical practice.
Founded in Bucharest, the Maria Costake brand was born from a desire to bring botanical art beyond paper and into everyday life. Printed on natural silk, the scarves sit at the intersection of art, nature and fashion.
From delicate wildflowers to expressive botanical compositions, every design carries the story of an original artwork and celebrates the timeless beauty of the natural world.
From botanical painting to silk, art made to be worn.
